• ABOUT US

Neighborhood for Good Is a platform supporting neighbors checking on neighbors before, during and after a disaster or emergency.

Neighborhood for Good Was Started based upon a volunteer community response program in Washington, DC, Heat Ambassador DC, where neighbors sign up through a municipal office or community based organization to help shovel snow for seniors and other neighbors who are physically unable to shovel snow due to medical reasons. Volunteers also make calls during summer months on heat emergency days to alert vulnerable neighbors to shelter in place.

Neighborhood for Good links peer educator trained volunteers with neighbors to make monthly care calls offering a wellness check for a neighbor who lives alone or feels they might be vulnerable to being alone during a disaster or emergency.

Volunteers are trained to link neighbors with local emergency response notification resources and local social service access information.

    • Volunteers are paired with 2, 5, or 10 neighbors.
    • Volunteers contact neighbors each month based up their availability and what the neighbor has said is their best days and times to take calls.
